John 3:16

John 3:16 "For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

I know we see it everywhere: on buses and billboards, football games, and t-shirts; but we must not loose the importance of this verse. Our entire belief in Christ is summed up in this verse, like God specifically wrote it as the tag-line of the whole Bible.

Everything that happens in the Bible describes God's work in mending the relationship that was lost in Eden. God loves us so much that He wants us to spend eternity with Him. But, because of sin, we cannot enter the Holy presence of God in Heaven. He was not okay with that so His Son, Jesus, came to Earth and died as a sacrifice for our sins to be forgiven. Now, because of faith in the Blood of Christ, we can be with God for eternity!

Galations 1:10

Galations 1:10 (NLT) Obviously, I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant.

Wow! Paul the apostle lays it all out there. As long as he knows that he is doing what God wants him to do, it doesn't matter to him if he is "liked" or not.

This is really hard for me. I am a people pleaser. I like to know that everyone around me is happy and I like to play a part in making them happy. But, I cannot be a "people pleaser" and do God's will at the same time. Life is full of choices. Do I want the approval and happiness of the people around me; or do I wan the approval and happiness of the God who died for me; the God whom I have to account to for all eternity?

Now I'm not saying that Jesus wants us to be rude and insensitive. We should make an effort to keep from hurting the feelings of people, but not at the expense of our call to spread the Gospel.

If you have to choose between hurting someone's feelings and doing the will of God, choose the will of God.

Community Meal

This Saturday is the Youth Group's turn to assist with Community Meal. Be there or be an L7 Weenie!

The Blog has arrived

It's taken longer than I hoped, but we finally have a blog for our Youth Group! We have taken another step into the digital age. We have boldly gone where many, many people have already gone; at least we will have some company.

In case you haven't figured it out, this is the blog for the B.C.U. Youth Group at Hardy Memorial UMC in Texarkana, TX. We are a group of young people who love Jesus, love having fun, and love each other (most of the time). If you are in the Texarkana area and are in 6th - 12th grade, we invite you to join us.

I will attempt to update this blog once a week and anytime there are special announcements to share.
